Jarryd Hayne has returned to NFL action, starting at running back for the 49ers against the Detroit Lions.
The match is currently underway in the first quarter with the 49ers leading 7-3.
The former NRL star opened the game with two impressive runs, with the second for 11 yards; the longest carry of his short NFL career.
The 49ers have one of the worst records in the NFL with four wins in 14 matches and are out of playoff contention.
Despite their struggles throughout the season, the 49ers have managed to perform extremely well against the Lions.
The Lions are also out of playoff contention but have been one of the NFL’s best teams over the past two months, with their defense ranking 23rd out of the 32 teams in the league.
