Government supports football development

Major boost for football in the country as Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama has announced the government’s support to develop the sport.

Speaking during the opening of the Courts Inter District Championship, Bainimarama says he is ready to give his support to the football community.

Bainimarama says our national team deserve to be given the recognition they deserve especially our women’s team for performing well internationally.

“We’re prepared to invest on the best coaches in the development of talented young players and the sporting infrastructure necessary to grow this game to be bigger and better in Fiji every year.”

He says investing in the sport will also bring smiles to football lovers around the country.

Meanwhile, looking at tomorrow’s Senior Division matches, Nadroga plays Navua at 10am at ANZ Stadium, Savusavu battles Taleivu Naitasiri at the same time Buckhurst Park. Taveuni meets Seaqaqa at 12pm while Lami takes on Rakiraki at 2pm.

In the Premier Division, Nadi battles Tavua at 12pm, Ba meets Nasinu 2pm, Lautoka takes on Labasa at 4pm while Suva plays Rewa 6pm.
