The Australian Goodwood Saints girls Under-18 Football League team defeated Fiji 33-32 in its match at Albert Park in Suva over the weekend.

Fiji’s captain Elenoa Cakuniqoliqoli believes her team performed well during the match.

“Most of those players that have been picked from the national side have gone overseas to play in Australia are just from the village. AFL provides them a good opportunity for players to be exposed overseas and to get a better lifer and a better future for them.”

Cakauniqoliqoli says they will be working closely with AFL Fiji in the development of the sport in the country.
