A good turnout was recorded at the Fiji Amateur Boxing Association Pacific Games trials in Suva last night.
FABA president Manasa Baravilala says he did not expect a record number of boxers to turn up and fight for a spot in the national team to Papua New Guinea.
“The turnout has been very encouraging. We expected about 15 bouts but we ended up with 22 bouts. So it’s a very good turnout, there’s a lot of fans out there and we’re very pleased that the people have come out to support the trials.”
The final round of trials will begin at 5pm today at the National Fitness Centre in Suva with coach, Pauliasi Ratu expected to name his squad thereafter for the Pacific Games.
