Fiji Airways Flying Fijians veteran Vereniki Goneva was named the Aviva Premiership Rugby player of the year and the top try scorer of the season.

Goneva was selected for the award by a panel of judges beating players from Wasps, Exeter Chiefs, Sale Sharks and Northampton Saints.

Goneva has been in stellar form for the Falcons as they claimed their first Aviva Premiership Rugby semi-final place in their history, scoring 13 tries to also walk away with the top try Scorer award, sharing it with Worcester Warriors’ Josh Adams.

The Nadi native had already won his club’s Player of the Season, Players’ Player of the Season and Try of the Season awards.
