Goal-kicking crucial: McKee

October 2, 2015 7:58 pm

Vodafone Flying Fijians coach, John McKee has downplayed the missed opportunities in the kicking department after the sides 23-13 Rugby World Cup defeat to Wales yesterday.

Flyhalf, Ben Volavola had a mixed day with the boot, knocking over two kicks out of five attempts in the encounter.

McKee says Fiji cannot afford to let the opportunity slip away in such a tough pool against top opposition.

“At this level, you really need to nail those kicks and we left a couple out there on the park. We really needed that pressure on the scoreboard to stop the opposition from getting more than two scores in front and unfortunately we missed a couple of shots, but the game wasn’t won and lost there.”

Fiji will take on Uruguay in its final match in the 2015 World Cup at 7am on Wednesday.

You can watch it live on FBC TV and a live commentary will air on Bula FM and Radio Fiji One.

In the lone match today, Waisake Naholo scored the quickest try in the World Cup so far for New Zealand in the 43-10 defeat of Georgia.

The Fiji-born speedster dotted down a try in the 1st minute for the All Blacks in his first match following a miraculous recovery from a leg injury two months ago.
