The Fiji men’s cricket side has lost batsman and wicket-keeper Maciu Gauna to a shoulder injury for the World Cricket League Division Six tournament in England in September.

National coach, Shane Jurgensen says the Australia-based player will be sorely missed for the tournament but believes there is enough depth in the 18-man squad that was announced last week to cover the wicket-keeper’s position.

“So it’s really important that everyone stays injury-free from now on. We need our main players on the field; so we’ve lost him (Gauna) because he’s wife is having a baby too. So it’s important for him but for us, it’s an opportunity for another player to step up and fill the void.”

The tournament starts on the 7th of September in Essex, London.
