Gaitcha faces uphill battle

April 21, 2015 12:56 am

The Gaitcha football side will face a steep challenge when they clash with Fiji Airways OFC Champions League defending champions, Auckland City this afternoon.

The New Caledonians have recorded two wins and a loss in the tournament; their last match was an 8-1 rout of Lupe Ole Soaga.

This result pushed Gaitcha into top spot among the second-placed teams from each pool, securing them a semi-final spot ahead of Hekari United and Amicale.

Gaitcha will bank on strikers, Bertrand Kai, a one-time OFC Player of the Year and Marius Bako to lead their campaign.

Auckland City and Gaitcha will clash at 3.30pm at the ANZ Stadium, in the first semifinal followed by the Ba-Team Wellington clash at 7pm.

You can catch a live commentary of the Ba-Team Wellington match on Radio Fiji 2 with the voice of soccer, Raymond Stoddart.
