Fiji could soon have its first ever professional futsal court by early next year.

Fiji Football Association CEO, Bob Kumar says this would not have been possible without the support of the sport’s world governing body, FIFA, as well as the Oceania Football Confederation.

“We have Oceania and FIFA’s commitment to have the turfing done, either late this month or early January. The order has been placed and the turf is coming all the way from USA, together with the technicians. It all depends on the shipping so maybe by end of January, we will have a fully-fledged futsal court, which will also be going out on hire.”

The futsal court will be situated at the Fiji FA Headquarters at Vatuwaqa in Suva and will allow the local body to host its own competition’s instead of hiring other venues.

Meanwhile, Fiji FA is preparing to host the OFC Futsal Oceania Championships in February at the Vodafone Arena in Suva.

The winner from the regional meet will book a spot in the World Futsal Championship in Colombia in September.
