Fiji Rugby Union is still awaiting for an official confirmation of Vodafone Fiji 7s captain Osea Kolinisau joining the Houston Strikers Club in USA.
FRU Chief Executive John O’Connor says they are still waiting for the words from the club and Kolinisau in terms of his overseas contract.
“I haven’t been officially advised of any contract neither has Osea {Kolinisau} nor Gareth {Baber} have advised me of Kolinisau signing the contract but I guess on twitter there is message that he has signed with Houston club in USA and the details are at the moment not clear.”
Fiji 7s coach Gareth Baber has wished Kolinisau well and says it will be tough to find his replacement.
“Obviously I don’t want him to leave but there is only so much you can do in-terms of providing opportunity for them to stay in Fiji and certainly some of the senior boys have been attracted after the Olympics which I understand in-terms of proving their families and such.”
Meanwhile, attempts to contact Kolinisau have been futile.
