Former Bati to play for Kangaroos

Former Fiji Bati and Penrith Panthers prop Reagan Gillard has joined the World Cup Kangaroos Rugby League side.

Gillard who represented Fiji in the 2014 Pacific Rugby League International against Samoa will be donning the green and gold jersey when they take on the Fiji Bati and Papua New Guinea in the Pacific Tri Nations next week.

Former Bati captain, Wes Naiqama, says it’s all about the development of rugby league no matter which country you choose to represent.

“I’m a close friend of Reagan, he has been playing some good football and I’m proud of him. Whatever decision he makes I will support him because it’s all about Rugby League.”

Meanwhile, the Battle of the Bati match between Fiji Bati Residents and the overseas Bati will kick-off at 3pm at the ANZ Stadium in Suva followed by the naming of the squad to the world cup at 6pm.
