The Wellington Phoenix have missed out on a home play-off match in Football’s A-League competition after Adelaide won in Brisbane yesterday.

Adelaide were fourth on the table just one point ahead of the Phoenix going into the last regular season game against Brisbane.

Four second-half goals gave them a 5-3 victory and a final home play-off spot ahead of the Phoenix.

Phoenix Mark Rudan says they’re looking forward to their match this weekend.

“I guess in one way it’s good,because we understand what the outcome is going to be after today with that result. But irrespective we’re expecting a  tough encounter against Perth.”

The Phoenix are heading into table topping Perth this weekend and will stay in Australia to play their third or fourth placed qualifier next weekend.
