February 18, 2019 12:49 pm

The OFC Executive Committee will meet to confirm which member association will replace the Solomon Islands at the Under 17 FIFA World Cup later this year.

This is after the Solomon Federation was found of breaching both the OFC Disciplinary Code and the OFC U-16 Championship 2018 Regulations.

They were found fielding U-16 player Chris Satu who was born before 1st January 2002, on an underdetermined date.

Fiji Football Association President Rajesh Patel says they are glad that all their evidence was correct.

Patel hopes the committee to approve their proposal of competing in the U17 World Cup.

“We have to provide evidence to the Discipline Executive and we did that and the Committee found that the player was overage and all the Solomon Islands points have been forfeited and now the committee will have to decide who will be the next team with New Zealand to represent Oceania in the U17 Championship.”

The U-17 World Cup runs through the 17th of September to the 8th of October in Peru.
