Navua through to the IDC Senior division final

The Navua football team had to come from behind to beat Lami 4-2 in the Courts IDC Senior division semifinal at Prince Charles Park in Nadi.

Lami opened the account after earning a penalty in the 9th minute and Jasnit Vikash made no mistake from the spot-kick to give them an early lead.

Navua fought back and applied continuous pressure resulting in a 43rd-minute goal to Joseph Elder to level scores at the breather.

The Senior division champions, being promoted to the Premier Division from next season came back strongly in the second half and was awarded a penalty in the 61st minute.

The experienced Vineet Chand made no mistake and gave Navua a 2-1 lead.

The humid conditions took its toll on Lami players as Navua took full advantage and scored two quick goals in the 77th and 80th minutes through replacements Sharad Kumar and Thomas Dunn.

Lami managed a consolation goal through Apisai Sewasewa.

Navua will now face the winner of the second semifinal between Nadroga and Savusavu which will take place at 1:30pm.

The first Premier division semifinal will kick-off at 4pm between Labasa and hosts Nadi followed by Ba and Suva at 6pm.
