Nadi’s Vodafone Fiji FACT title win yesterday at Lautoka’s Churchill Park was a historic one.

For the first time in 81-years, Nadi won a title at Lautoka’s home ground – a feat they have never been able to achieve previously.

Nadi Football Association President Javed Ahmed says they have never won in Lautoka since their establishment in 1938.

“You know this is a historic win because Nadi has never won a tournament in Lautoka we have played a lot of finals over the years but since the association was formed in 1938, Nadi has never won a tournament at Churchill park so this is a historic win so we definitely planning for a celebration to honor the players and officials. And also gove the fans an opportunity to see the players and we’re looking at this Saturday to have a float procession and a public reception for players.”

Nadi is expected to celebrate the win in a big way this weekend.

Major sponsor Jacks of Fiji who injected $45,000 last week into Nadi football will have something special for the fans to commemorate the historical achievement.

The 2-1 win over Suva yesterday will go down in history and it gives them more reasons to paint the jet set town green on Saturday.
