Young Nadi side beats 10-man Suva in IDC

The Jack’s Nadi football team got off to a perfect start after beating Suva 2-1 in their opening match of the Courts Inter District Championships.

The host’s got off to a perfect start after the side was given a penalty in the 10th minute.

However, this did not deter the capital city side as they levelled the score through Christopher Wasasalaa a few minutes later.

Suva was reduced to ten players when their goalkeeper Emori Ragata was given the marching orders as Simione Tamanisau came in.

The Nadi side had a few opportunities in the first half, however, they could not capitalize.

In the second half, the host’s got off to a blazing start and gave their fans a reason to cheer as Christopher Kumar put their side in the lead.

Suva tried their best to level the scores however Nadi’s goalkeeper Vereti Dickerson made sure they walked away with three points after the first day.

Nadi football coach Pranesh Amarsee says it was a perfect start for them.

In the Premier division games tomorrow,  Labasa will take on Tavua at 2pm, Suva will face Nasinu at 4pm, Nadi will take on Rewa at 6pm while Lautoka face Ba at 8pm.

Looking at the first game of the Premier Division, the Men in Black kicked off the IDC with a win against Tavua 2-0 as Sanaila Waqanicakau and Avinesh Suwamy scored for Ba.

In the second Premier division match held today, Nasinu stunned Rewa 2-1 with Joseph Mishra and Luke Savu scoring for the Giant Killers while Kavaia Rawaqa pulled one back for the Delta Tigers.

In the Senior division, the Lami football team kicked off the Courts IDC in style when they thrashed Dreketi 7-1 in the first Senior Division match at Prince Charles Park.

Lami’s goals were scored by Taneila Rakariva, Mohammed Yaseen, Ravneet Chand, France Catarogo, Asai Sesewa, and Shanil Kumar while Dreketi’s lone goal was scored by Saynal Subin Prasad.

In other Senior division matches, Savusavu beat Northland Tailevu 2-1, Navua defeated Tailevu Naitasiri 2-1 and Nadrooga beat Seaqaqa 3-1.

The Senior Division matches will kick-off at 11am tomorrow with Nadroga taking on Tailevu Naitasiri and Savusavu facing Lami at the same time, Navua will take on Seaqaqa at 1pm while Dreketi will face Northland Tailevu at 3pm.
