Lionel Messi scored an injury-time penalty as Argentina rescued a 2-all draw in their friendly with South American rivals Uruguay in Tel Aviv.

Messi’s Barcelona team-mate Luis Suarez had given Uruguay a second-half lead from a free-kick before Martin Caceres handled in the area.

The Argentina captain nonchalantly rolled in his second international goal in as many matches.

Edinson Cavani opened the scoring to give Uruguay a 1-nil lead but Sergio Aguero levelled for Argentina.

In the UEFA European Championship Qualifying, Italy recorded one of the biggest wins in their history as they completed their successful Euro 2020 qualifying campaign by thrashing Armenia 9-1.

Spain, on the other hand, wrapped up their successful Euro 2020 qualifying campaign with a 5-0 win against Romania.

In other Euro 2020 qualifier matches,  Sweden outclassed the Faroe Islands 3-0, Greece beat Finland 2-1, Norway defeated Malta 2-1, Ireland was held by Denmark 1-all while Switzerland thrashed Gibraltar 6-1.
