The Fiji Football Association has major plans in place for the development of Futsal in the country.

After creating its own league in Fiji, Futsal Commission Chair Jiten Reddy says there is more in the pipeline.

Despite failing to qualify for the 2020 FIFA Futsal World Cup, the national side will return to Fiji and remap their plans for the future.

Reddy believes the introduction of grassroots Futsal will assist them to qualify for 2024 Futsal World Cup.

He adds that their long term plan is to have Futsal players focusing on the sport besides football.

“Come the next World Cup qualifiers we will have a pool of players to choose from because here at this moment in time players choose to play football.”

Meanwhile, the national Futsal side won only one match in the OFC Futsal Nations Cup.

They will face American Samoa tomorrow at 12:30pm for the 5th-8th place play-off.
