Labasa thrashes Nadi in first IDC semifinal

The Labasa football side has forced their way into the final of the 2019 Courts IDC after thrashing hosts Nadi 5-nil at Prince Charles Park.

Both teams started strongly as they tried to get onto the scoring sheet.

Despite a few chances from the sides in the first few minutes of the first half, they could not find the back of the net.

However it was in the 36th minute, the Babasiga Lions went up a goal through Ilisoni Logaivou.

A few minutes before halftime, Labasa extended their lead through Ashneel Raju.

Labasa picked up from where they left off in the first half with another goal to Antonio Tuivuna in the 49th minute.

The Northerners add more salt to Nadi’s wounds as Logaivou picked up his double in the 68th minute.

Twenty minutes later, Nadi made matters worse for them after a penalty was awarded to Labasa with goalkeeper Akuila Mataisuva slotting in the goal.

Labasa then controlled the remainder of the game silencing the home fans as they sent the green machine packing.

Labasa will face the winner between Ba and Suva which is currently underway.
