Fiji Football national coach Christophe Gamel hopes to develop more local players to follow Fiji football captain Roy Krishna.

Gamel says the return of the football captain to play for Fiji this month will allow local players to get professional advice.

Krishna says he is excited to don the black and white stripes and give local players valuable and professional tips.

“I’m coming for sure but I won’t be playing the first game because we have a game on the 17th but I’ll be flying over straight after the game. But yeah I’m looking forward to seeing the boys and wearing the white and black stripes.”

Gamel says he also plans to develop more local players to play international standard football and secure contracts with overseas clubs.

“At the moment Kishan Sami is the top number one. I have one or two ideas but I need to see them performing in the field because at the end it is based on the performance and all the key performers that I struggle with two years ago.”

Meanwhile, Fiji faces New Caledonia on the 18th of this month at Suva’s ANZ Stadium before meeting Mauritius at Churchill Park in Lautoka later on the 24th.
