French star, chief guest at Fiji FA awards

Former France football defender Mikael Silvestre will be the chief guest at the Fiji Football Associations awards night next month.

Fiji FA President Rajesh Patel says after a few weeks of negotiation they were able to persuade a high profile football player to attend the function.

The 41-year-old has played for Manchester United from 1998 to 2008 and also featured for Arsenal from 2008 to 2010.

The former defender won five Premier League titles and the UEFA Champions League with Manchester United.

He made 40 appearance for the French side at the international level and played at two FIFA World Cup.

Meanwhile, the Fiji FA awards night will be held on the 2nd of March at Sofitel Resort in Nadi.
