Ba secures draw in dramatic clash

The Ba football side’s chances is still alive of qualifying for the OFC Champions League after playing to a one all draw against Erakor Golden Star in its second pool game in Vanuatu, Port Vila.

Erakor star Tony Kaltack scored a wonderful goal in the later stages of the first half as the host team rested one nil at the breather.

Veteran midfielder Avinesh Swamy who came as a replacement got the much-needed equalizer in the 81st minute.

Goalkeeper Misiwani Nairube was the hero for the side saving a penalty kick in the 90th minute.

Erakor had also missed a penalty earlier on.

 

The draw sees defending champions Team Wellington qualify for the quarterfinals as they bagged its second win thumping Kiwi FC of Samoa 13-nil earlier.

The Men In Black has a point after losing its first match to Team Wellington 2-nil and a draw against the host.

They need to beat Kiwi FC by three clear goals in its final pool match on Friday and hope Team Wellington beats Erakor Golden Star.

Team Wellington sits top of the table with six points, Erakor Golden Star has four points, Ba is in third place with a point and Kiwi remains winless.

Ba faces Kiwi FC at 3pm on Friday after which Team Wellington meets Erakor Golden Star at 6pm.
