The Ba football team is the first side to qualify for the semifinals of the Courts IDC following their two-nil win over Lautoka at Prince Charles Park.
The men in black who had beaten Tavua 2-nil in their opening match, just needed to win against Lautoka to qualify from Group A.
Ba started the match strongly against the Blues scoring in the 12th minute of play through Micha Tommy.
A few minutes later, Ba increased their lead following a goal to Abbu Zahid in the 28th minute of play.
The Men in Black was reduced to ten men after Sanaila Waqanicakau was shown a red card.
In the second half, Lautoka tried to get back into the game however they could not.
Looking at Group A, Labasa needs a draw against Ba tomorrow after they beat Tavua 2-1 to book a semifinal spot while Lautoka needs to beat Tavua and hope the Babasiga Lions loss to the Men in Black.
Tavua, from that Group is already out of the tournament after two losses.
Group B is wide open with Suva, Rewa, Nadi and Nasinu, all having three points each with a win and a loss.
The Capital City side has an advantage with a better goal average after they thrashed Nasinu 5-0.
Rewa, on the other hand, brought a lifeline after shocking Nadi 2-0 as they lost to Nasinu 2-1 in their first match.
Hosts Nadi kicked-off the tournament on a high after beating Suva 1-0 but could not maintain their form and went down to Rewa in their second match.
Meanwhile, in tomorrow’s matches, Nadi plays Nasinu at 11am, Lautoka faces Tavua at 1pm, Suva meets Rewa at 3pm and Ba plays Labasa at 5pm.
