Flying Fijians wary of Wallabies midfield

September 23, 2015 4:59 am

The Vodafone Flying Fijians are expecting compatriot and Wallabies center, Tevita Kuridrani and veteran, Matt Giteau to pose some problems in the midfield when the two teams clash in the Rugby World Cup in Wales tomorrow.

Fiji center, Gabriel Lovobalavu says despite returning to international rugby this year after a long absence, Giteau’s vast experience and skills will make him a constant threat on the field.

“Yeah he’s an intelligent player and one of their (Wallabies) key players in the team and he’s going to add speed and another option in attack for the Australians. We’ve trained very hard with the rest of the group and we’re looking forward to the game tomorrow.”

Lovobalavu will partner Vereniki Goneva in the midfield against the Australian pair of Kuridrani and Giteau.

Meanwhile, Kurdrani says he is looking forward to taking on cousin and Fijian winger, Nemani Nadolo, tomorrow.

“Back then we were still young, always competing against each other but it was always fun playing rugby on the beach.”

The Flying Fijians will clash with the Wallabies at 3:45am tomorrow at Millennium Stadium in Cardiff.

In other games tomorrow, giant-killers Japan take on Scotland at 1:30am while France battles Romania at 7am.

You can watch the World Cup live on FBC TV and a live radio commentary of Fiji’s games will air on Bula FM and Radio Fiji One.
