Flying Fijians reminded of 2011 performance and encouraged to do better this year

August 26, 2015 6:46 pm

The Vodafone Flying Fijians were hosted to a farewell church service in Suva yesterday ahead of the Rugby World Cup in England next month.

Held at the Wesley Church at Butt Street, the service was attended by the team and officials, Fiji Rugby Union representatives, families and supporters.

Speaking in the itaukei dialect, FRU President, Frances Kean challenged the players to better Fiji’s performance in the last World Cup in 2011, where the national side won only one of its four pool games.

Kean added it will be a huge task to survive in a pool containing top teams like England, Australia and Wales, but the boys can achieve it if they work together.

The Flying Fijians depart for England on Monday and take on the hosts in its first match of the World Cup at 7am on September 19.

You can watch all the games from the World Cup live on FBC TV.
