Flying Fijians focus of building phase play

September 20, 2015 12:56 am

The Vodafone Flying Fijians will look to build on its phase play in attempt to maintain pressure in attack for long periods during the remainder of the Rugby World Cup in England.

Coach, John McKee says the side showed great potential in the opening 35-11 loss to the hosts yesterday and if the side can keep possession for long stanzas of play, then pool opponents better be prepared for a backlash.

“Be more patient, play to our systems. I felt at halftime, when we had some ball and created some phases, we had England under some pressure but critical mistakes were letting us down and not allowing us to build on that pressure.”

The team has arrived in Wales ahead of the pool match against the Wallabies in four days time.

McKee adds the team will focus on better execution of set plays to try and upstage the Australia.

Fiji meets the Wallabies at 3:45am on Thursday at Millennium Stadium in Cardiff.
