Fiji Airways men’s 7s coach Gareth Baber is looking forward to fielding a star-studded side in the World Cup in the USA in July.
Baber’s extended squad will include overseas players such as Leone Nakarawa, Josua Tuisova, Semi Radradra, Semi Kunatani and Nikola Matawalu.
Baber says these are players who have shown their interest and he is working closely with their clubs on their release.
“It’s really to see short of weather that any injuries they carrying, what the fitness will be like and obviously their availability to come back into the 7s environment. Nikola Matawalu is another individual whom I have talked to as well and I know his quality as a player as I have coached against him and seen him play.”
Baber’s mix will also include local players like skipper Jerry Tuwai, Eroni Sau, Kalione Naoko, Jasa Veremalua and Alasio Naduva.
He will name the extended squad in the mid of next month.
The World Cup will be held from the 21st to the 23rd of July in US.
