Fijiana to meet PNG in Oceania rugby women's 15s opener

Four women’s teams will battle it out in the Oceania Rugby Women’s 15’s Championship this weekend.

The teams are the Fiji Airways Fijiana, Papua New Guinea, Samoa’s Manusina and Tonga which will play in a round-robin format.

General Manager Oceania Rugby Bruce Cook says the championships will play an integral part in building a platform to further promote and develop women’s rugby in this code in Oceania region.

“We are entering some exciting times in the region for Women’s Rugby, and we are delighted to have four teams from within the Pacific take part in this year’s Oceania Rugby Women’s Championships.”

The championship kicks off on Friday at Lautoka’s Churchill Park.

Fiji takes on PNG in its first match at 3.30pm.
