Fijiana seeks IRB's advice

Fijiana coach, Elenoa Kunatuba will be seeking advice from the International Rugby Board (IRB) regarding the legal age for players to compete at the Oceania qualifiers.

The national women’s rugby squad includes four 16 –year-old players from Jasper Williams High School who impressed at their fitness tests in Suva today.

“We cannot say anything about the Jasper students because we have to clarify with IRB in regards to the laws and rulings on whether players Under 16 years of age can take part in the national team and we will clarify this issue today.”

Jasper student and winger, Merewai Cumu showed her fitness today, topping the 24-member squad in the beep test with the level of 12.6.

Fijiana will complete their final trials at Buckhurst Park at 2pm on Thursday.
