Telecom Fijiana coach, Iliesa Tanivula says the team still lacks a solid player base from which to select players for the Women’s World Sevens Series.
The former New Zealand 7s rep is confident the introduction of the new Elite Player Pathway program launched by Fiji Rugby Union of which eight female players are being groomed for the national duties, will go to great lengths to addressing this issue.
“Player base is something that we are still looking at and with the launch of this program, we’re really happy and hopefully we can bring in more girls to rugby.”
The next leg of the Women’s World 7s Series will be held in Sau Paulo, Brazil on February 20th-21st.
