After decking out Hamilton in Blue, the Australian Rugby Union is now hopeful that Fijians will do the same in Sydney this weekend.

It was a sell out in New Zealand and it felt like Fijian supporters were everywhere at the Waikato Stadium.

ARU Operations Manager, Tony Harris says the lure of watching the Fijian sevens team play is something the Australians are hoping will pack the tournament’s new home at Sydney Olympic Park’s Spotless Stadium.

“We always say that 25% of our crowd made up of Fijian supporters and so we’re looking at 20 thousand supporters each day on Saturday and Sunday and I would expect at least five thousand hopefully more because there’s tickets available.

Meanwhile, the Fiji 7s side is pooled with Samoa, England and Japan at the Sydney tournament which will be played this weekend in Australia.

Fiji 7s side beings its campaign against Japan at 12.34pm on Saturday, then faces England at 6.02pm and plays Samoa in its final pool match at 10.07pm.

The Cup quarter-final beings at 1.16pm on Sunday, semi-final starts at 5.16pm and the final is scheduled for 9.54pm.

You can watch the entire tournament live on FBC TV.
