Fiji v'ball to participate in Pacific Games

June 12, 2015 12:59 am

The Fiji Volleyball teams will now be able to compete at the Pacific Games.

This as the Chinese Embassy handed over a cheque of $37,000 to the Fiji Volleyball Association earlier today.

The money will be used to cater for levies for the men’s and women’s teams for indoor and beach volleyball.

The teams had initially been dropped two days ago for not being able to raise the team levy.

At the cheque handover today, Fiji Volleyball President Elesi Ketedromo said they had sent the request to the embassy about a month ago for assistance.

She added that there was a communication breakdown as they had initially thought that they were only to collect $20,000 and the rest would be provided by FASANOC.

The women’s side won a silver medal at the last games in 2011 while the men’s team finished 5th.

The Pacific Games will be held in Papua New Guinea from the 4th to the 18th of next month
