Fiji U23 ready for New Caledonia battle

The Vodafone Fiji Under-23 football side is all set to take on New Caledonia in the Pacific Games semi-final this afternoon in Papua New Guinea.

After having won a ticket to the 2016 Olympics, now the focus is on the Fijians to add a gold medal to their achievement.

Speaking to FBC Sports from PNG, Fiji team director, Taranesh Reddy, says they are ready.

“We came to the Pacific Games with two missions. One was to qualify for the Olympics and the second was to win the gold medal. We have qualified for the Olympics and now it’s getting the gold medal for Fiji. We are playing New Caledonia at 2.30pm PNG time. The boys are focused and know what is expected out of them and they know we are only two matches away from winning the gold and everything is inline and we are ready to face New Caledonia.”

The match starts at 4.30pm, with the first semi-final between PNG and Tahiti to be played this hour.
