Fiji U20 returns today after historic outing

The Vodafone Fiji side returns to the country today after an impressive outing at the FIFA Under 20 World Cup in New Zealand.

Although the side failed to make it past the pool stages, they did make headlines in the football World in their maiden tournament.

Fiji coach Frank Farina said after the match that it was a good learning experience for the team at the World Cup.

Farina adds this team is Fiji’s future in football and we now have to keep thids team together and keep on playing more matches.

Fiji lost its last pool match to Uzbekistan 3-0 yesterday.

Fiji had earlier defeated Honduras 3-0 while they lost their first match to Germany 8-1.

Uzbekistan scored their third goal in the dying stages of the match.

Germany topped the pool with 9 points while Fiji, Honduras and Uzbekistan all finished on 3 points.

Uzbekistan qualifies as runners up from the pool with a better goal difference.

The Fijians performed way above expectations at the tournament upsetting Honduras 3-0 in a historic win.

The side had earlier gone down 8-1 to Germany in the first encounter.
The team returns tomorrow.
