The Vodafone Fiji Under-20 side is confident of putting in a good performance in the Oceania Junior Trophy in Suva this week.

Centre, Filimoni Savou says the side has had a solid build-up to the tournament after camping in Sigatoka for the past month.

The England-based player says the team packs a lot of experience with the majority of the players having already tasted international competition during the Junior World Trophy in Portugal earlier this year.

“There’s a few of us that went to the JWT earlier this year and for some it’s their first time playing for Fiji. So it’s the bond that we have that make the newcomers feel welcome into the team.”

Fiji will take on Papua New Guinea in its opening match of the Oceania Junior Trophy at 5pm on Friday at the ANZ Stadium.

The winner of this tournament will qualify to join Samoa in representing the Oceania region at the World Rugby Junior Trophy in Zimbabwe in April next year
