Team Fiji will be participating in five sports at the upcoming Special Olympics World Summer Games in Abu Dhabi next year.
Special Olympics Fiji Sports Development Officer Robin Dayal has confirmed that Fiji will be participating in athletics, swimming, table tennis, open water swim and women’s 5-a-side football.
Dayal says while they are on their final stages of selections and hopes to send a full team of thirty-three athletes and officials.
“They’ve just gone through their medical, some athletes need some clearance for their medical some through maybe age or whatever so we are trying to get the process finished off in September so hopefully by October or November we will have a likely team that will be going.”
The Special Olympics will be held in Abu Dhabi, Dubai from the 14th to the 21st of March next year.
