Fiji to compete in World Special Olympics in Abu Dhabi

Fiji will compete in Abu Dhabi for the World Special Olympics next year.

This will be the second year for Fiji to compete at the elite level.

Special Olympics Fiji Chairman Bishwa Sidal says the officials have set their sights on athletes which will be named after the Regional Olympics competition this week at Suva’s ANZ Stadium.

“For Fiji, we have been given a quota for track and field, table tennis, swimming, athletics and open water swimming. We are still keeping our fingers crossed if our soccer team is invited, so after this week development squad will be named where the coaches who came from the various districts they will be given a set of athletes to work on.”

Meanwhile, the Regional Special Olympics competition continues today.
