Fiji through to Cup quarters at Sydney 7's

February 6, 2016 3:48 am

The Vodafone Fiji 7’s side has qualified for the Cup Quarter-finals of the Sydney tournament in Australia.

The Fijians put on a spectacular performance to thrash the French team 49-5 in their second pool match.

Offloads, ball retention at kick off and crunching tackles were at its best as the Fijians scored seven converted tries to clinch a spot in the last eight.

Jerry Tuwai, who scored two tries in the first match touched down two more tries in the first half while Osea Kolinisau and Savenaca Rawaca also got their names on the score sheet with a try each in the first half.

Fiji led 28-nil at the break.

The second half began with Kolinisau grabbing his second try as Viliame Mata and Vatemo Ravouvou also scored in the overwhelming victory.

Fiji had earlier defeated Samoa 31-nil in their first match.

The Ben Ryan coached side plays Argentina in their last pool match at 7.21pm tonight.

Fiji will play either Kenya or South Africa in the Cup Quarter finals tomorrow.
