Fiji Swimmers through to finals as womens make great start to 7's

Team Fiji Swimmers Epeli Rabua and Eugene Kado have both qualified for the A and B division finals respectively later on this evening at the Commonwealth youth Games in Samoa.

Epeli set a new national record in the 15 to 16 age group, stopping the clock at 30.52 seconds in the 50m Men’s Breastroke.

Kado swam a personal best of 33.78s in the same event and qualified for the B final.

Meanwhile Taichi Vakasama who took part in the 400m freestyle swam a personal best of 4 minutes 32.71 seconds beating his previous best time by 1 second.

Adi Kinismere Naivalu clocked a time of 1 minute 10.90 seconds in the womens backstroke with fellow swimmer Ella Rasau coming close to her personal best with a time of 2 minutes 39.75 seconds.

Meanwhile the Fiji women’s rugby side thrashed Samoa 46-5 in their opening match today.

Fiji has so far won 2 Gold and 1 Silver at the games, all coming from Weightlifting.
