Fiji slip to second after disastrous Dubai

Fiji has slipped into second spot in the IRB Seven Series standing after bowing out in the Cup quarter finals to France by 8-5 and then being hammered by the Welsh 27-5 in the Plate Semifinals.

Pacific neighbours Samoa went on to win the Dubai Sevens beating New Zealand 26-15 in the finals.

New Zealand now stand top with 38 points, Fiji, Samoa and Kenya follow with 32 points.

The team will now travel to Port Elizabeth for the South Africa Sevens next weekend.

For South Africa, Fiji has been placed in Pool B with New Zealand, England and Scotland.
