The players in the Vodafone Fiji under 23 football side stand to share $50,000 if they win the gold medal at the Pacific Games in Papua New Guinea and qualify for the 2016 Rio Olympic Games.
Fiji Football Association president, Rajesh Patel made the announcement last night at the team naming in Ba.
Captain, Rusiate Matarerega, who will be assisted by Jale Dreloa, says the team is going into the competition to win a gold medal.
“The boys have promised to do our best, our utmost best to bring back the glory to Fiji. With these few words, vinaka vakalevu.”
Nine players that featured in the FIFA Under 20 World Cup earlier this year have forced their way into the side, with Misiwane Narube and Setareki Hughes unfortunate to miss out.
The Fiji under 23 side will be in action today in the return match against Wellington Phoenix Academy side at 3pm at Govind Park in Ba.
At 6pm, the Fiji senior side will take on the Wellington Phoenix and you can catch the live commentary on Radio Fiji 2 with the voice of soccer, Raymond Stoddart.
