Fiji last won the sevens circuit in 2006 and their target this season is to win the series.

Coach Alivereti Dere says they will start with retaining this weekend’s Gold Coast Sevens title.

“Yes that’s their target and for the Gold Coast sevens, we are going to retain the title and we will have to win the series at the end of the season. So that’s the target we have set for ourselves.”

He adds Captain Levani Botia gave the side an injury scare but has been declared fit to lead the side.

The Digicel Fiji 7s side left for Australia yesterday morning with high hopes of a good outing.

The national side has to overcome Scotland; Pacific neighbors Tonga and hosts Australia in the pool stages of the Gold Coast 7s.
