Fiji rugby league on a roll

The Fiji rugby league nines side started its Pacific Games campaign on a winning note, defeating Samoa and Cook Islands respectively.

The national side beat Samoa 16-10, outscored their opponents by three tries to two, led by veteran hooker, Asaeli Saravaki.

Fiji then took on Cook Islands and a missed conversion allowed the national side to win their second match by 14-12.

In basketball, the second men’s semi-final is underway between Fiji and PNG.

The winner will face Guam in the gold medal play-off tomorrow after the side defeated Tahiti 89-57.

The losers from the semi-finals will face-off in the bronze medal play-off.
Looking at the medal tally, Fiji remains in 5th position with 11 gold, 17 silver and 16 bronze.

PNG maintains its lead with 34 gold, 19 silver and 17 bronze.

New Caledonia sits in second spot with 21 gold, 19 silver and 21 bronze followed by Tahiti with 21 gold, 17 silver and 15 bronze.

Samoa is in fourth spot with 15 gold, 20 silver and 1 bronze.
