The Flying Fijians positive start to the Pacific Nations Cup after beating Japan, 25-19 in Nagoya last night, was a timely birthday gift for coach, Inoke Male.

Male celebrated his birthday on Monday and team manager, Isei Rayawa says the players tireless efforts to stay ahead of the hosts, was a plus.

However, there are areas which need to be brushed up on, before they meet Samoa on Sunday.

“After the game the only thing we discussed is to keep things in line, we have to keep control, don’t have to rush because the dropped balls that was happening and the Japanese were strong in their rolling mauls, right now we are looking forward to play against Samoa and it will be a very physical match.”

The Flying Fijians leave for Tokyo today and will play Samoa on Sunday at 3.10pm (Fiji time).

Fiji has never won the PNC. Since its inception in 2006, winners so far have been the Junior All Blacks in 2006, ’07 and ’09, the NZ Maoris in 2008, Samoa in 2010 and Japan last year.
