Fiji Pearls lose opening match at WNC

The Fiji Pearls side has been upset by Wales, 59-54 in the opening match of the World Cup Netball Championships in Australia.

Fiji, which ranked seventh in the world, was taken to the cleaners by the Welsh, who are one place lower on the rankings table.

The Pearls led 16-13 after the first quarter, but Wales came back to lead 33-34 at half-time.

The Welsh led 46-38 after the third quarter and despite the efforts from the Fijians, Fiji was not able to get a first up win.
