Fiji National 2019 Chess competition underway

The Fiji Nationals 2019 Chess competition has been hailed a success with the number of participants increasing in this year’s competition.

A total number of 40 players are currently taking part in the competition with a majority in primary and early secondary school level.

Fiji Chess Federation General Secretary Hild Vukikomoala says the number of players has increased significantly.

“With regards to the turnout, this is the biggest turnout for the Fiji Chess Nationals which is quite good and we are very happy.”

Youngsters with the likes of Rudr Prasad and Semisi Vukikomoala are top contenders and favorites to win the open category.

The chess nationals continue tomorrow at FASANOC Olympic House with the finals expected to happen on Tuesday next week.
