Fiji hockey faces money woes

Fiji’s participation at the Hockey World League Series Round 2 in Singapore for men in January and India for women in March 2015 hangs in the balance.
PACNEWS reports that re-elected Oceania Hockey Federation President Pam Elgar they will await the decision of Fiji Hockey Federation this week.
Fijian Head Coach Hector Smith says each player will have to raise over $3000 if they are to take part since they do not currently have the sponsors as yet.
Fijian coaches Shaun Corrie for the men and Alison Southey for the women are preparing their respective teams for the Pacific Games in Port Moresby next July although they’d both love to take their teams to the World League Round 2.
In the meantime, Papua New Guinea team manager Michael Potuan has said that they are standing by should Fiji be unable to make it.
PNG men and women won silver in the World League Round 1 behind Fiji.
