February 9, 2016 5:01 pm

The Vodafone Fiji side will only get better having taken on the best teams in the region during the OFC Futsal Championship.

The side lost its two opening games to New Caledonia 5-1 and Vanuatu 5-2 respectively.

Coach Intiaz Khan says the team has an even steeper learning curve ahead with remaining games against defending champions, the Solomon Islands, New Zealand and Tahiti.

“I think you can see their players and coaches have been preparing well and they are very focused. I’ve been talking to the coaches of New Caledonia and Vanuatu and they had very good comments about us and that they have to worry about us for the next championship. They know we have started well and it will stay for the next tournament.”

In other results from yesterday, Solomon Islands beat New Caledonia 5-1 while New Zealand edged Tahiti 3-2.

Today, Fiji will face Tahiti at 8pm.

Prior to this, New Caledonia faces Vanuatu at 3pm while New Zealand and the Solomon Islands will battle at 5:30pm.
