Fiji lost its opening game in the OFC Futsal Championship, going down to New Caledonia 5-1 at Vodafone Arena in Suva.

The visitors took an early lead with a goal before Altaaf Sahib equalized for Fiji.

It was one-way traffic from then on as New Caledonia piled on four more goals to seal the win.

Vanuatu will face New Zealand at 5.30pm while Solomon Islands meets Tahiti at 8pm.

Fiji’s next match is against Vanuatu at 3pm tomorrow.

The winner of the OFC Futsal Championship will automatically qualify for the FIFA Futsal World Cup.
