January 8, 2018 11:10 pm

Fiji Football received a timely boost of $200,000 from the major sponsor during the launch of the 2018 Vodafone Premier League today at the Fiji football Academy in Suva.

Tavua and Dreketi are the new inclusion to the league after they earned a spot from the relegations last year to be part of this year’s event with six other teams that have worked hard to maintain their spot.

The eight teams will get $5,000 each while senior teams will receive $2,500 for their preparation towards the league.

Fiji football President Rajesh Patel says the competition will get tougher every year.

“That is why we are saying Vodafone Premiere League is very important and in every country premier league is the most important one, tournaments happen in the weekend but the league continues for the whole year because it is important to win every game in order to win at the end.”

Meanwhile, the Vodafone Premier league is scheduled to be played next week with Nadi taking on Ba in the opening round.
